Would you pray for Palestine?

bismillah

Everybody must be aware now of the carnage being inflicted on Gaza and there are many bloggers around blogosphere posting on this subject. A very dear sister has posted this idea for staging a peaceful protest through praying for our brothers and sisters in Gaza for 24 hours.

She says:

I am calling you sisters, I am trying to arrange something different, something more Islamic than anger and shouting. I am asking you, would you pray for Palestine? Would you join to the group of praying people in the park, if you would know they were there 24 hours praying for Palestine?

Only thing you would have to take with you, would be your prayers mat and the water bottle to make wudu. Would you do this? And if you are an Imam who reads this, would you lead the prayers 24 hours for Palestine? And if you are not able to pray, would you be able to help those who can by offering them hot drinks if it is cold or offering them warming blankets?

Could we do something like this as a one big Muslim ummah?
I would, so would you come to pray with me?

She has also posted a few facts about the injustices that have been suffered by the Palestinians over the past 6 decades.

  1. Sure, I’d pray for Palestine.
I’d pray for the Palestinians to stop whooping it up every time they send one of their children to blow up Israeli children.
I’d pray for the Palestinians to be tolerant of beliefs other than islam.
I’d pray for Palestinians to stop calling for the annihilation of Israel.
Most of all, I’d pray that the IDF cleans out that rat hole called Gaza once and for all.

  2. astagfrillah… and that is what they dont need. So you feel it is completely allowed for a country to bomb a tiny piece of land who cant defend itself, who cant care for its wounded. Im sorry do you know anything about Palestine, obviously not or you would know that it isnt just muslims living in the country. The ignorance of some people! :(

I was very very restless yesterday.. I felt this pain in me because of the hurt and suffering which the people of Gaza (specifically) are going through.

I conceptualising something simillar in my mind all nigh and will post it in a few moments; but yes, I will be praying for Gaza, and yes, I am contributing all I can to help them with aid.

One thing we must remember – let’s pray for ease of their suffering and not for anything else. Too many people don’t understand the logic or reasoning behind what has happened and is happening and perhaps a stroll down history will clarify a lot more. Regardless, this is a time to focus on ease of HUMAN suffering and not look at the nationality or religion.

Remember – you are born human, you die human. Everything else is a label which you collect on your way through life.

insh’Allah someone will answer my question: so, is this permissible in Islam? I’ve read few fatawa about demostrations etc but couldn’t find anything about this. Pls help me to understand, jazakhum Allahu khayran! :)

  6. I’ll pray for change.

  7. ginnypub, your comment hardly merits a response, but at the risk of inflaming you further, I ask this:

Have you ever heard the expression, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”?

  8. Mashallah this a grt effort frm fellow bloggers !!

  9. I will pray for the Palastinians. I am so so sorry for what they are going through. I dont know how Israel can get away with all they are doing and how they live with their selfs going to pray at synagogue then go and kill people. but as we all say what goes around comes around.
